#40YearChallenge: Show us how Cycling has Transformed your Cities

Blog #40YearChallenge: Show us how Cycling has Transformed your Cities
In celebration of the 40th Velo-city Conference Birthday, let's join forces to show how much joy cycling has brought to the world.
Cities are ever-changing environments. Public space is constantly being renegotiated as more cyclists hit the road. In celebration of the 40th Velo-city Conference Birthday, let's join forces to show how much joy cycling has brought to the world.

Tell us what has changed in your city or post your best photos showing how your city has benefited from more cycling. Have you been cycling on a new pop-up lane? Has your city introduced pedestrian areas? Were there any temporary street closures to cars? We want to hear all about it!

Share your experience and photos with us on social media by comment, private chat or tag us in your posts!

We will make a start! Here are Lisbon’s street views from 40 years ago VS now!

1. Rua Alameda D. Afonso Henriques, Lisbon Portugal (1980 vs 2020)

2. Rua Castilho, Lisbon Portugal (1980 vs 2020)

3. Rua Rosa Araújo, Lisbon Portugal (1980 vs 2020)

More ambition, targets, funding and work will be needed to unleash the true powers of cycling. Velo-city 2021 Lisboa will be an excellent opportunity for the cycling community to meet, brainstorm and exchange ideas on how we can enable more cycling and change the world for the better.
